MCAD - Teaching Artist Program

Teaching Artist (Minor) Gain the skills and sensibilities to foster art-filled learning experiences in K–12 schools and community settings. A teaching artist is an artist/designer with the complementary skills of an educator who can effectively engage a wide range of people in learning experiences in and through the arts.

We prepare individuals to build their portfolios or transfer to a Bachelor of Fine Arts program at a 4-year college or university. Academic Options An Associates in Fine Arts degree (AFA) allows students in the arts to transfer to a four-year college or university and prepares them for a career in the arts. Upon completion of an AFA, students have the option to pursue a wide variety of majors. Areas of study include: studio arts (including drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, and sculpture), arts administration, art education, curatorial studies, art history, and art therapy.
